Wild Thing Presents, in association with Tone Deaf, Beat, The Brag & Metal Obsession proudly present...
Germany’s premier post-metal act, THE OCEAN are returning to Australia in April 2015. The Ocean will be playing their highly acclaimed record Pelagial in full for the very first time in Australia. Pelagial was one of 2013’s most critically acclaimed releases internationally.
The Ocean will be kicking off their tour at Canberra’s The Basement on Thursday April 9th, before heading to Sydney’s The Factory Floor on the 10th, Brisbane’s The Brightside on the 11th, Byron Bay’s The Northern on the 12th, Adelaide’s Jive on the 16th and Melbourne’s The Evelyn Hotel on the 18th, with their tour finale taking place at Perth’s Amplifier on Sunday April 19th.
The past few years have seen The Ocean touring the globe relentlessly with the likes of Opeth, Devin Townsend Project, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Between The Buried And Me, Red Fang, The Black Dahlia Murder and many more. Their unforgettable live show has taken them to the furthest regions of the planet, from Siberia, Russia, USA, Hong Kong, Mexico, China, India and everywhere in between.
Pelagial is a progressive and ambitious musical odyssey, written, recorded, mixed and to-be-performed-live as one single 53-minute piece of music, mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Katatonia, Orphaned Land) at Fascination Street Studios in Örebrö, Sweden.
Pelagial is a concept record that takes the listener on a journey that begins at the surface of the ocean and plunging through all five pelagic depth zones: epipelagic, mesopelagic, bathyalpelagic, abyssopelagic, and hadopelagic. Unlike a detached conceptual idea, this can actually be heard and felt while listening to Pelagial.
Joining The Ocean on tour will be Brisbane based progressive-alternative powerhouse CALIGULA’S HORSE. Caligula’s Horse recently completed a hugely successful Australian January headline tour with their new video “A Gift To Afterthought” premiering with the much revered Revolver Magazine. In addition, they signed with Josh Kline from The Agency Group (Trivium, Bring Me The Horizon) for North America bookings, confirmed an appearance at Prog Power Europe Festival (Netherlands) this October and will be releasing a new record later this year.
